Swirling strokes of red, blue and green: a dark, heavy outer world — and within it, bright flashes of light that begin to bloom in the darkness and lift everything up.

Artis calls this perhaps one of his darkest works. It is about people who have lived through violence and survived it. The abuser tried to suppress, destroy and break them, yet they chose to go on living. The scars remain. The hurt remains. But the person keeps living, keeps doing their own things, finds joy again — and helps others, because only by helping others can we become happier.

It is about defiance: getting back up and refusing to give up, even when life presses you to the ground.
